The unseen work of a Lettings Agent

I had planned a different type of blog today but after the events of yesterday evening, I thought I’d pivot slightly.

Late yesterday evening we received a call in the office regarding one of our vacant properties from a concerned neighbour that the fire alarms were sounding.

Karen, our Senior Negotiator headed over there to take a look and found they were indeed sounding and attempted to fix the issue herself.  Having left the property safe and sound and alarms reset, the neighbour then called shortly after to let us know the alarms were back sounding again.

Hearing how distressed and worried the neighbour was we agreed to contact the fire service to check the property, as understandably it was causing concern to the neighbours and despite our visual checks there could indeed have been something underlying we weren’t aware of.

That meant Karen had to return to the property, after hours, to allow the fire service access to make the necessary checks.

It’s important to note – when a property is empty we’re not receiving any management fee for looking after the property – this work is done free of charge and represents the commitment we show to our clients.

The good news is in this instance, it looks like an electrical issue.  The point is here, this is what your letting agent is saving you from. Evening visits, worry and concern and dealing with worried neighbours and its all too often unseen.  It wont be the first or the last time we have to go above and beyond for our clients but in this case I’ve decided to shout about it for once.

I’d like to express huge thanks to South Wales Fire and Rescue who attended quickly, the neighbours acting as our eyes and ears to help protect our Landlord’s property and indeed Karen who spent her own time dealing with this.
